Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson is expected to be sidelined until towards the end of the season after suffering another injury setback. The Brazilian will miss both the FA Cup tie against Manchester City and the Champions League encounter with Paris Saint-Germain.
Alisson had returned for the Premier League match against Tottenham and the second leg of the Champions League tie with Galatasaray, but withdrew from the squad on the eve of the away trip to Brighton before the international break. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Slot said: "He will not be part of the PSG game either, (he is) out for a bit longer. Towards the end of the season we expect him to be fit."
There was more encouraging news on Mohamed Salah, who is available again after missing the defeat at Brighton. The Egyptian is set to make his first appearance since announcing he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Slot confirmed: "Yes he is [available], he trained with us yesterday, he will train with us today and is available for tomorrow."
Alexander Isak has returned to full training following the broken leg he suffered in December, but Slot urged caution over his involvement. "It'll be too soon to expect him in the starting lineup, it was first time training yesterday after 101 days out," he said. "It will take a bit of time to give him a lot of minutes, but we will make sure we do the right thing to build him up."
Slot also provided an update on right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who is "okay" after picking up an injury while on Netherlands duty, though his minutes may need to be carefully managed.
