Liverpool XI vs Brighton: Barcola fit, Szoboszlai out

Bradley Barcola is available for Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Brighton this afternoon after resuming full training on Friday.

The Frenchman was absent from a training session on Thursday, though reports indicated he was following an individual programme away from his team-mates. Barcola has played in every Liverpool Premier League match since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in a £123million transfer over the summer and can extend that record.

Iraola Confirms Barcola Fitness

“Bradley has trained today normally, he is fine,” Iraola revealed in the pre-match press conference. “It was no problem, just a matter of sometimes you have have to deal with the load and consider sometimes they have to stay inside but he is fine.”

With Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo both impressing in midweek, Iraola faces a selection decision in the wide areas, but Alexander Isak for Lewis Koumas up front should be a straightforward call.

Team News and Injury Updates

Victor Munoz remains a doubt after sustaining a minor knee injury in last weekend's comeback win over Brentford. That forced the winger to miss Tuesday's match, and Iraola is unsure whether a return is possible as Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield on Sunday afternoon for the second of four home matches in a row across three competitions.

Having already beaten Villarreal in the Champions League, Liverpool host Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last 16 next Wednesday before facing reigning Premier League champions Arsenal at the start of November.

Iraola can also recall Florian Wirtz after he scored as a substitute in midweek, most likely for Trey Nyoni in a change that would see Ryan Gravenberch drop back into a more natural central midfield role alongside Alexis Mac Allister.

Dominik Szoboszlai will sit out the Brighton game with a hamstring injury but is training alone, while Jeremie Frimpong's muscle issue is set to keep him out for around a month, joining Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley on the sidelines.
