Liverpool's 15-year-old winger Joshua Abe has been spotted training with the first team ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Manchester City. The teenager, who only turned 15 in July, has been impressing for the Under-18s this season, scoring five goals in just eight league appearances. He also made his UEFA Youth League debut against Zilina this week, becoming the club's youngest ever player in the competition.
Abe's involvement with the senior squad comes amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, with reports in November suggesting Liverpool faced a battle to keep hold of the promising talent. Manager Arne Slot has regularly included teenagers in matchday squads this season, with Rio Ngumoha, Amara Nallo and Trey Nyoni among those named as unused substitutes for last week's 4-1 win over Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's compensation package for Ngumoha has been confirmed at a minimum of £2.8 million by a tribunal, as reported by The Athletic. The fee could rise by an additional £4 million based on performance and contract-related bonuses, with Chelsea also entitled to 20 percent of any future sale. Ngumoha moved from Chelsea to Liverpool in 2024 and has already scored on his Premier League debut for the Reds.
Slot praised Ngumoha's finishing ability earlier this season, saying: 'Rio can finish so well for his age. He is so confident. For his age he is a really good finisher.' The London-born winger has also played twice in the Champions League and made his professional debut in last season's FA Cup.
