Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich as a potential replacement for Luis Diaz, who is attracting interest from Barcelona and Bayern themselves. The Colombia international has admitted there are ongoing negotiations over his future, though he insists he is “very happy” at Anfield.
Diaz, 28, has two years left on his contract and scored 17 goals last season under Arne Slot. Barcelona view him as a top priority, while Bayern have made an audacious approach after Jamal Musiala suffered a serious ankle injury. Liverpool have already rejected initial offers for the winger.
Speaking to Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez, Diaz said: “We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.” He added: “I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Kimmich as a potential replacement should Diaz depart. The German international, 30, has entered the final year of his contract at Bayern and could be available for a cut-price fee. However, no formal bid has been made yet.
Diaz also paid tribute to late teammate Diogo Jota, whose funeral he missed while in Colombia. “It's very difficult to receive news like this,” he said. “No one is prepared for this, he was a key companion when I arrived in Liverpool.”
