Jet2 tells passengers to bring paper travel insurance this summer
Jet2 urges passengers to bring paper travel insurance

Jet2 has instructed all passengers to bring an extra document with them when travelling this summer, as the airline experiences one of its busiest seasons ever. Millions of people are heading abroad with their families during the school holidays, to destinations such as Spain, Greece, and Portugal.

Jet2's alert on X

In a new alert to holidaymakers, posted on X, Jet2 urged those heading overseas to bring a "paper copy" of an important document with them when heading to the airport. The post reads: "Heading away this summer? Take a paper copy of your travel insurance - it’s your backup if you lose your phone abroad. It includes your policy number and your insurer’s 24/7 emergency contact, so you’re never stuck without help."

Importance of travel insurance

Further information found on the Government's Travel Aware website explains the importance of having an appropriate travel insurance policy as this "provides protection and coverage for unexpected events that can happen on holiday". Travel insurance means you are protected in a range of unplanned scenarios such as natural disasters, medical emergencies, lost or stolen luggage, and cancellations or delays.

Risks of travelling without insurance

Travelling abroad without appropriate insurance is a huge risk. If things go wrong you could be left with a huge bill. Holidaymakers are warned not to simply buy the cheapest and most basic policy they come across, as this may not provide adequate coverage for things like unexpected health issues.

You must also disclose all medical conditions while buying travel insurance, and update any changes before heading abroad, as not doing so will likely void your policy. Factor in any activities you plan to do while abroad, and make sure your policy covers delays and cancellations. And if you're going to more than one destination, make sure your travel insurance covers all of these locations.
