Leeds United have entered into talks with out-of-contract Fulham winger Harry Wilson, according to reports. The 29-year-old Welsh international is exploring his options after a superb season with the Cottagers, during which he scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions.
Contract Situation and Interest
Fulham have offered Wilson a new deal, with his current contract expiring on June 30. Standard Sport understands that proposal remains on the table. However, Wilson is considering other opportunities and has opened discussions with Leeds, a club he nearly joined on Deadline Day last summer. Leeds are reportedly prepared to offer a long-term contract and a pay rise to secure his signature.
Wilson is also attracting interest from Aston Villa and Everton after an impressive campaign. He was voted Fulham's Player of the Season and was nominated for Premier League Goal of the Season for his trivela strike in a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in December.
Previous Near-Move to Leeds
Wilson came close to joining Leeds on Deadline Day last summer, but Fulham pulled out of negotiations at the eleventh hour after failing to secure a deal for Chelsea winger Tyrique George. Leeds enjoyed a strong season under manager Daniel Farke, finishing 14th in the Premier League despite being tipped for relegation.
Fulham's Managerial Situation
Fulham finished five points above Leeds in 11th place but announced the departure of manager Marco Silva at the start of the month after five years. Silva's exit surprised the club, with vice-chairman Tony Khan admitting they had expected him to stay just three weeks earlier. Silva subsequently replaced Jose Mourinho at Benfica. Fulham are reportedly closing in on a deal to appoint ex-Real Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa as their new manager, though club sources insist there are still two contenders in the running.
