Everton and Leeds United played out a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park, with Thierno Barry cancelling out James Justin's opener. The result lifted Everton into the top half of the Premier League table, while Leeds remained in 16th place but moved a point further clear of the relegation zone.
Leeds were the better side in the first half and took the lead when Justin arrived late in the box to glance a near-post header from a corner. However, Everton improved after the break, with manager David Moyes' substitutions and change of formation turning the game. Barry stabbed home from close range in the 75th minute after a low cross from Idrissa Gueye, who had earlier hit the bar.
Justin later reflected on his goal: 'I get a bit of stick from a coach for arriving in the box too fast so I arrived late and it worked.' He also praised former Leicester teammate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who came on as a substitute and was 'very good, finding pockets of space.'
Leeds had chances to win it late on, but Sean Longstaff blazed over and a late corner came to nothing. Barry was named player of the match, his fourth goal in five league games.
