Klopp's Praise Fuels Man Utd's Mac Allister Transfer Interest

Manchester United are considering a shock bid for Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to reports. The 27-year-old Argentina international, who joined Liverpool from Brighton for £35 million in June 2023, has struggled to replicate last season's form under Arne Slot. United are keen to add a Premier League-ready central midfielder this summer and could test Liverpool's resolve with a bid for the 2022 World Cup winner, who is under contract until 2028.

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who signed Mac Allister and coached him for one season, repeatedly praised the player. After just a few months, Klopp said: 'He is a fantastic player and I love everything about him. He is super smart, tactically and off the pitch as well.' Later in the 2023/24 season, Klopp singled out Mac Allister's personality, calling him 'one of my favourites' in the dressing room.

Klopp added: 'He's educated in the best possible way. He's really polite, confident, funny, smart and an incredible footballer. Oh my God! You watch training sessions and the coaches look at each other like, "Wow, what was that?"' The German also highlighted Mac Allister's footballing pedigree, noting that his father, uncle, brothers and cousins are all professionals.

Mac Allister's versatility was also praised by Klopp, who said: 'He is a super important player for us... The impact he can have is massive from everywhere.' Despite United's interest, Liverpool are highly unlikely to sanction a sale to their historic rivals.
