Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced he will work as a pundit for Magenta TV at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The 58-year-old confirmed the news in a social media video on Friday morning, playfully teasing a return to the touchline before clarifying his new role.
Klopp left his position as Liverpool boss in the summer of 2024 and has repeatedly stated he has no desire to return to management. He made a comeback to football in January 2025 as Head of Global Football for the Red Bull organisation, and last month joined a specialist panel for the German Football League (DFL).
In the video, Klopp said: 'Going back to the sideline? I don't miss anything. This is what I always thought. But now it is tingling again. Grass underneath my feet. The heated atmosphere in the stadium. And I want to be really close again.' He then clarified: 'Oh? No, not as a manager. I am becoming a pundit for Magenta TV at the FIFA World Cup 2026.'
Klopp also video-called German television host Johannes B. Kerner, saying: 'Hi Johannes. I'm in! See you on June 11 in Mexico! Cool sentence. Except for Indiana Jones, probably nobody can say it.'
