BBC shelves Amanda and Alan's show for 2027 after four series

The BBC has decided to shelve Amanda Holden and Alan Carr's travel and renovation show, meaning it will not return for a fifth series in 2027. The broadcaster confirmed the decision, citing the pair's commitments to other projects.

Four series of renovations across Europe

The duo's first two series were set in Italy and titled Amanda & Alan's Italian Job. The third saw them renovate a crumbling casa in Andalusia, Spain, and a fourth took them to Corfu in Greece, where they worked on a townhouse.

Fans may be disappointed to learn that they won't see more of Amanda and Alan's TV antics for a while, as both have been incredibly busy with other work.

BBC statement on the show's future

A BBC spokesperson told The Sun: "They are both busy with other projects this year so whilst it won’t be on in 2027, it is a hugely popular show, and the BBC looks forward to working more with Amanda and Alan in the future."

The spokesperson added: "We are delighted that viewers are still enjoying the last two series on iPlayer."

Alan Carr's new castle project and Amanda's commitments

The news comes after Alan Carr, who won Celebrity Traitors, signed a deal with Disney+ to front a show called Castle Man, in which he renovates a Scottish castle. Amanda is currently filming Britain's Got Talent and hosts her Heart Breakfast show on weekdays.

Alan previously said of his new programme: "Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me - I want my very own castle. Since I was a boy in Northampton, I've always dreamt big, and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home and as I turn 50, I feel it’s my time. All I want is a turret to call my own - get me over that drawbridge!"
