Kirsty Gallacher: I'm in Best Shape of My Life at 41

Kirsty Gallacher has hit back at claims her success is down to nepotism, insisting she has worked hard for her career. The TV presenter, 41, said she is in the best shape of her life and wants to be a healthy role model for her sons Oscar, 10, and Jude, seven.

Speaking to Fit and Well magazine, the Sky Sports News host revealed she has been training with former rugby pro Mel Deane for a year. 'His results are brilliant,' she said. 'But it’s tough training – you have to know that you are going to work hard.'

Gallacher, who has gone from a size 6-8 to an 8 due to improved muscle tone, is a fan of the 'strong not skinny' ethos. 'I think it’s a great look – it’s the opposite to size zero,' she said. 'I’m a mum, and I think it’s important for my boys to watch a woman train hard.'

The mother-of-two also spoke about the mental benefits of exercise. 'I always feel really good after training. It’s like I bounce out of the gym,' she advised. Gallacher, who ended her marriage to rugby star Paul Sampson in 2014, admitted she would like more children. 'If I’m lucky enough to have one more then I’d be thrilled,' she said.
