Richard Keys Clarifies Gabby Logan Tribute After Backlash

Richard Keys has attempted to clarify his tribute to Gabby Logan's late father, Terry Yorath, after facing criticism for his initial social media post. The former Sky Sports presenter claimed his words were 'entirely misinterpreted' after Laura Woods and Dan Walker condemned his remarks.

Yorath, a Welsh football legend and former Leeds United captain, died at the age of 75 following a short illness. Keys initially wrote on X: 'Sad to hear the news of Terry Yorath's passing. He was a warrior & won fans over wherever he played. He was great for us at Coventry & the reason I got Gabby a job at Sky. I had no idea who she was when we met, but I knew her dad. RIP Terry. Your daughter did you proud.'

Laura Woods responded by calling Keys a 't**t', while Dan Walker urged him to reconsider his wording. Keys later clarified: 'What a shame my words for a footballing hero of mine were entirely misinterpreted. Terry Yorath was a fabulous guy. A warrior. My affection for him meant I was more than happy to help him & his family in any way I could. Gabby's career would make any father proud. RIP Terry.'

Keys has previously claimed credit for Logan's early career at Sky Sports, a claim she has disputed. In her 2022 memoir, she described him as a 'cruel dinosaur'. The pair have a long-standing feud, with Keys having previously called her a 'handful' and claimed she 'p****d everybody off at Sky'.

Gabby Logan paid her own tribute to her father on social media, writing: 'Rest in Peace Dad, our hearts are broken, your love and legacy lives on.' She also shared a longer post describing their final moments together and thanking fans for their support.
