After a decade of verbal sparring, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are finally set to meet in the ring. The all-British heavyweight clash is expected to take place in October or November, with Wembley Stadium emerging as the frontrunner to host the event. However, an official date and venue have yet to be confirmed.
Promoter Eddie Hearn indicated that a UK stadium is likely, but overseas options such as the United States or Saudi Arabia remain possible. 'I think it [the UK] is probably the frontrunner,' Hearn told Sky Sports. 'But at the end of the day, both fighters are receiving a huge amount of money and Turki Alalshikh is paying the bill.'
The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, available to its 300 million subscribers at no extra cost. Fans can watch on TV or via the Netflix app on mobile devices. The full undercard is yet to be announced.
Joshua, 36, last fought in December, knocking out Jake Paul. He returns to the ring on July 25 in Riyadh against Kristian Prenga before facing Fury. Fury, 37, recently defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov on points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after briefly retiring.
Joshua stated: 'It’s no secret I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild... The landlord will collect his rent. That is certain.' Fury countered: 'I’ll knock him out for sure. He does not have any chin and I will bang him on it.'
