Jordan McCann says he was arrested on landing in England just days before his fight with Big Stacks, but insists the bout will still take place.
The Manchester rapper is set to settle his feud with Stacks – also known as the 'UK's Hardest Man' – in Newcastle on Saturday night. McCann suffered a points defeat in his Misfits Boxing debut after gassing out early against Ibiza Final Boss.
He will be looking for his first win in the ring this weekend against Stacks, real name Charlie Robert. After training in Dubai, McCann landed in England on Wednesday evening but found himself in a predicament on arrival at Manchester Airport.
Arrest claim and fight vow
McCann claimed he had been arrested after landing in Manchester, but said his alleged detainment would not stop him from competing this weekend. Posting a video from a car, the 32-year-old captioned the post: “Sorry 2 @misfitsboxing I was arrested as I landed at Manchester airport I’m on my way 2 Newcastle now this fight is on. My mother’s life I wouldn't miss it for the world.”
In the clip, he could be heard saying: “Jesus Christ, bro, I’ve had a long f*****g day. Lawsy [Joe Laws], make sure you post this . Tell them that they took my phone. I’m coming down to Newcastle now. Good job today on Stacks, but leave him alone now ’cause we need him alive for the fight.”
Brawl mars fight week
McCann did not reveal why he was allegedly arrested, but stated he was on his way to Newcastle ahead of the pre-fight press conference on Thursday evening.
This weekend's fight has already been marred by chaos without the pair trading blows. On Wednesday, Stacks was involved in a massive brawl which broke out, stemming from a verbal spat between Joe Laws and Conor Benn’s half-brother, Harley, which saw a table being flipped.
Stacks appeared to be sucker-punched and threatened to throw a chair, but security stepped in to break up the melee. It left the 'Hardest Man' with a busted lip, but he revealed that he is fine and would be able to fight this weekend.
“It's all kicked off again today,” he said in a video uploaded to social media. “F*** it. At least we ain't injured. At least we can still fight. We got some dead cheap shot by these f****** nerds.”
“They tried to cheap shot me. Soft as f***. All those lot are f***** because they tried to get to me. It is what it is. The night is still on. The fight is still on. They did not injure me. They tried. They tried throwing a chair at me. You cannot rock me. I'm here still fighting.”
