John Korir Makes History with Record-Breaking Boston Marathon Win

In a stunning display of athletic prowess, John Korir of Kenya successfully defended his men's title at the 2026 Boston Marathon while shattering the course record. The elite runner clocked an extraordinary time of 2:01:52, becoming only the fifth man in history to complete the marathon distance in under two hours and two minutes.

A Strategic Race to Victory

Korir's path to victory was marked by strategic brilliance and remarkable endurance. At the halfway point, he trailed Lemi Berhanu by seven seconds with a split of 1:01:50. However, the defending champion made his decisive move after 20 miles, surging ahead of his competitors to seize control of the elite men's race.

His final time of 2:01:52 represented a significant improvement of more than one minute over the previous Boston Marathon record, cementing his status as one of the world's premier distance runners.
