South Yorkshire Police have issued an update after a man jumped into a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The man is in a "serious condition" following the attack.

Incident details

At 1.35pm on Saturday 10 October, police received reports of a man entering a tiger enclosure at the park. The tiger subsequently attacked the man, resulting in serious injury.

A spokesman said: "The tiger has subsequently attacked the man and this has resulted in serious injury. Officers are working at pace to make contact with the man’s family and no further detail will be provided at this time."

Park evacuated and closed

Following the incident, Yorkshire Wildlife Park was evacuated and closed. The tiger remained in the enclosure, and police confirmed there is no wider risk to the public.

Officers remain on scene carrying out enquiries. Police also noted that videos of the incident are circulating online and encouraged people not to share the distressing footage.
