Chelsea are prepared to part ways with Nicolas Jackson before the end of the transfer window, with the Senegal striker left out of the squad for their pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen amid doubts over his future.
The 23-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and is keen to explore his options. Tottenham and Newcastle have registered an interest in the forward, though Spurs would only make a move if Richarlison departs this summer. The Brazilian has rejected interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.
Newcastle view Jackson as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak, who has been heavily linked with Liverpool. The Magpies have had a frustrating summer, missing out on several targets, and have turned their attention to the Senegal international after losing out on RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United.
Jackson scored 10 Premier League goals last season but has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca refused to rule out a departure, stating: 'When the transfer window is open, unfortunately or fortunately, anything can happen. This also involves Nico’s situation.'
Chelsea have spent over £200 million this summer but have offset much of it through sales, including Djordje Petrovic, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, and others. Jackson is also suspended for the first game of the Premier League season after being sent off for violent conduct against Newcastle last season.
