ITV Sport's EFL highlights show has come under fire after failing to broadcast Huddersfield Town's dramatic stoppage-time winner against Leyton Orient, instead showing the final score as 1-1.
The League One clash at Brisbane Road appeared to be heading for a draw after Bojan Radulovic cancelled out Radinio Balker's own goal just before half-time. However, Ryan Ledson scored in the 16th minute of second-half stoppage time to secure a vital win for Huddersfield, keeping their play-off hopes alive.
Despite the dramatic finish, Monday night's highlight programme inexplicably omitted the goal, with the on-screen graphic incorrectly displaying a 1-1 draw. Fans quickly took to social media to criticise the show, which has faced frequent complaints since ITV acquired the rights from Quest.
One furious viewer posted: "The EFL need to find better guardians for TV highlights than this awful ITV programme. Today, they completely missed Huddersfield’s winner at Orient, announcing that the game had finished 1-1 instead. Absolutely pathetic." Another added: "That is absolutely outrageous from ITV. Give it to someone who cares. The BBC did a great job but was on at midnight. Quest had a superb host and gave decent analysis. Something needs to change."
The win leaves Huddersfield three points off the play-off places, while defeat ended Leyton Orient's six-game unbeaten run, leaving them just four points above the relegation zone.
