Hearts' unbeaten start to the Scottish Premiership season came to an end on Saturday as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen. The result leaves Hearts still top of the table, but now only one point ahead of Rangers, who staged a remarkable comeback to beat Falkirk 6-3.
At Pittodrie, Aberdeen secured the victory through a first-half goal from Bojan Miovski, who capitalised on a defensive error to slot home. Hearts pushed for an equaliser but were unable to break down a resolute Aberdeen defence, with goalkeeper Kelle Roos making several key saves.
The defeat was Hearts' first in the league this season, ending a run of five wins and two draws. Manager Derek McInnes admitted his side were below their best, saying: "We didn't play well enough. Aberdeen were organised and made it difficult for us. We have to learn from this and move on quickly."
Meanwhile, Rangers' thrilling victory at Falkirk saw them climb to second place. Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Rangers scored six times in the second half, with Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski both netting twice. Manager Danny Röhl praised his team's character, saying: "We were honest with each other at half-time. In the second half, it was one direction."
Celtic also kept pace with a 1-0 win over St Mirren, courtesy of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's first-half strike. The result leaves Celtic third, two points behind Hearts.
