Hearts are on the verge of winning their first Scottish Premiership title since 1960, ending the duopoly of Celtic and Rangers. Under manager Derek McInnes, they have led the table for most of the season and head into the final weekend with the championship in their hands.
However, momentum has shifted towards Celtic after a dramatic midweek round. Hearts comfortably defeated Falkirk 3-0, but Celtic needed a last-minute penalty from Kelechi Iheanacho—awarded after a VAR review—to keep their hopes alive. The result means Celtic no longer require a three-goal victory margin; any win will suffice.
The title will be decided in a winner-takes-all clash at Celtic Park on Saturday lunchtime. Hearts will be crowned champions if they win or draw. A defeat, however, would hand the title to Celtic.
Should both sides finish level on points, the title will be decided by goal difference, then goals scored, then head-to-head record. The stage is set for Scottish football's biggest weekend since 1985.
