Harry Kane has won the Ballon d'Or for the first time in his career, becoming the first English player to claim the award in 25 years. The England captain was crowned the world's best footballer at a ceremony in London on Monday evening.
A record-breaking season with Bayern Munich
The 33-year-old scored 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern Munich last season, helping the German side win another Bundesliga title and the German cup. He carried that form into international duty, scoring six goals for England at the World Cup as the Three Lions finished third under Thomas Tuchel.
That form was enough to see him become the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to claim the award, as well as the Striker of the Year gong. Kane also secured the Gerd Muller Trophy.
Competition from Lamine Yamal
Kane faced serious competition from Barcelona's Lamine Yamal. The teenager scored 24 goals and recorded 18 assists for the Spanish giants last term, and he also shone for Spain as they secured their second World Cup crown in the USA.
Kane's England teammate Jude Bellingham finished 11th in the rankings following another strong year with Real Madrid and England. Declan Rice accumulated enough votes to finish 15th.
