Erling Haaland made a cheeky comment to a camera operator at Anfield after Manchester City beat Liverpool 3-0, saying he sees them more than his partner. The striker, 26, is in a long-term relationship with former footballer Isabel Haugseng Johansen, and they have a son together who will turn two in December.
Haaland quipped that the person following him with a camera is "everywhere" as they tracked him across the pitch after he applauded City's fans in the lower Anfield Road Stand. The camera operator started the exchange by saying "Great goal!" and Haaland recognised them after being congratulated for a second time.
Cheeky exchange caught on camera
"You are everywhere, you," Haaland responded, to which the person behind the camera exclaimed "I am!" Haaland then added: "I see you more than my missus, I do," as a smile broke out across his face. The camera operator replied, "I know, yeah, yeah, yeah..." before Haaland walked away grinning and interacted with several City staff members on his way to the tunnel.
Backup goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli and set-piece coach James French were among those to greet him. Haaland scored the opening goal in City's 3-0 win three minutes after referee Chris Kavanagh sent off Ryan Gravenberch.
Club facing Premier League charges
The victory came after a fortnight of speculation about City's top-flight future. An independent commission found the club guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League's financial rules over a nine-season period between 2009/10 and 2017/18. City have appealed the decision to the chair of the judicial panel, currently Sir Gary Hickinbottom, and an appeal board hearing will take place.
Some football executives are said to be messaging each other about City, discussing suspending them from the Premier League. One told The Independent: "This is a farce that will lead to protest, damage to the integrity and reputation of the competition, and possibly even violence."
Expulsion rule cited
Premier League Rule 6B states "the league may expel a club from membership upon a special resolution to that effect." It would need to be passed by a majority of at least three-quarters of its members, equating to 15 of the league's 20 clubs.
