Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres suffered an injury scare during Sweden's friendly against Greece, but fortunately avoided any serious damage ahead of the World Cup. The 26-year-old, who recently helped Arsenal win the Premier League title, was the subject of a heavy challenge from Greek defender Panagiotis Retsos in the second half.
Gyokeres' right foot became trapped between Retsos' legs as he was brought down from behind, causing him to wince and grab his knee. The incident would have alarmed Arsenal supporters and manager Mikel Arteta, but the forward was able to continue playing after shaking off the discomfort.
Remarkably, Gyokeres went on to score a stunning free-kick from 30 yards to level the match at 1-1. Sweden eventually drew 2-2 after a late equaliser from Greece, but the main positive was Gyokeres emerging unscathed.
Sweden, now managed by former Chelsea boss Graham Potter, will begin their World Cup campaign against Tunisia on June 15. Gyokeres, who has 20 goals in 33 international appearances, will be a key figure alongside Liverpool's Alexander Isak as the Scandinavian nation aims to make an impact in the tournament.
