Golf Cart Accident Disrupts Valspar Championship as Young Fan Trapped

The third round of the Valspar Championship was abruptly interrupted on Saturday by a distressing incident involving a young fan and a golf cart. Play was suspended on the 15th hole at the Copperhead course after the girl was struck by the cart and became trapped underneath it.

Koepka's Immediate Response to the Terrifying Scene

Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka and fellow golfer Danny Walker were competing on the 15th hole when the accident occurred. According to reports from the Golf Channel, Koepka immediately stepped off the fairway to check on the girl and provide comfort during the ordeal.

Thankfully, the young fan was freed from beneath the cart, which had been transporting spectators around the course. Medical staff promptly examined her, and it was confirmed that she escaped without serious injuries. Her parents were present in the crowd at the time.

Koepka's Post-Round Comments on the Incident

After completing his round, Koepka addressed the incident, expressing relief that the girl was unharmed but acknowledging the gravity of the situation. "She's OK, thankfully, so that's all that matters," said the former LIV Golf star. "I know she’s probably a little scared, and I just felt for her at the time."

He added, "It's unfortunate, it shouldn't have happened. But as long as she’s OK - and nothing crazy happened to her - then it will be OK." Koepka finished the day tied for 16th place at three-under-par after shooting a 71 in the third round.

Tournament Standings Amid the Disruption

Despite the interruption, the Valspar Championship continued with Sungjae Im leading into Sunday's final round. Im secured a two-stroke advantage after holing a 13-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th hole, finishing with a 2-under 69.

He is closely followed by Brandt Snedeker, the 45-year-old U.S. Presidents Cup captain playing on a sponsor exemption, and David Lipsky. Snedeker has been performing strongly with a new putter in his bag, setting up an exciting conclusion to the tournament.
