Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, revealing he informed chairman Steve Parish back in October of his desire for a new challenge. The Austrian, who led Palace to FA Cup glory last season, is out of contract and has been linked with Manchester United.
Speaking before Saturday's trip to Sunderland, Glasner said: 'A decision has already been taken, months ago. I had a meeting with Steve in October ... I told him I will not sign a new contract.' He added that Parish agreed to keep the news confidential until now to provide clarity.
Glasner also revealed that captain Marc Guéhi is on the verge of joining Manchester City, saying: 'My latest understanding is that a deal with Marc is in the final stages. The result is that Marc doesn't play tomorrow for us.' The England defender will not be part of the squad for the Sunderland match.
Leading scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta could also leave if the right offer comes in, with Juventus interested but yet to meet Palace's valuation. 'There will be a price that Crystal Palace [accept] ... If nobody pays that price, then he will stay,' Glasner stated.
Palace have reportedly offered Angers €20m (£17.3m) for 19-year-old striker Sidiki Chérif and are confident he wants to join. Meanwhile, the club have begun searching for Glasner's replacement, with José Bordalás, Iñigo Pérez, and Kieran McKenna among the candidates.
