Ghana will have Antoine Semenyo available for their World Cup round of 32 clash against Colombia today, easing concerns over the Manchester City winger's fitness.
Semenyo Injury Update
Semenyo was seen limping late in Ghana's 2-1 defeat by Croatia last weekend, a result that saw Ghana progress as one of the best third-placed teams. He went down in the Croatia box towards the end of the game and left the pitch after receiving treatment but was able to finish the match.
Speaking after the game, Ghana boss Carlos Queiroz delivered a positive update, saying: “No, it's just a knock, he will be alright.”
Ghana Team News
Semenyo's availability is a boost for the Black Stars, as Queiroz can field an unchanged attacking quartet of Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, and Kamaldeen Sulemana in support of captain Jordan Ayew, who is still awaiting his first goal of the tournament.
Thomas Partey is expected to start in defensive midfield, but a decision remains on Jerome Opoku after he sat out the final group match against Croatia as a precaution due to a groin issue. Opoku has since returned to training and is in line for an immediate recall, having been one of Ghana’s most impressive performers against Panama and England in the group phase.
Colombia Team News
Colombia have no injury concerns heading into this fixture, but changes are expected. Nestor Lorenzo opted to rest Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz, Johan Mojica, and Sporting CP striker Luis Suarez for the goalless draw with Portugal last weekend, but all three are likely to start.
Predicted Colombia XI: Vargas; Munoz, Sanchez, Lucumi, Mojica; Puerta, Lerma, Arias; J Rodriguez, Suarez, Diaz.
Predicted Ghana XI: Asare; Senaya, Adjetey, Opoku, Mensah; Partey; Semenyo, Owusu, Sibo, Sulemana; Ayew.
