Gerrard will feature on Rio Ferdinand's 'Rio Meets' podcast, airing at 4pm UK time on Tuesday, October 7. The interview is expected to cover his future, with Rangers speculation likely to be a key topic. Recent episodes with Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen have lasted over an hour, making this Gerrard's most comprehensive interview since April.
Over the summer, Gerrard was seriously considered for a return to Rangers, but his family, comfortably settled in Bahrain, were not keen on returning to the UK at that time. In April, he told Peter Crouch's podcast that he had no pressing desire to return to management, saying he was 'happy waking up, being free, doing the family stuff.'
However, with Russell Martin vacating the Rangers job, Gerrard's stance may have shifted. The podcast appearance comes just a day after the position became available, prompting Ibrox fans to urge Ferdinand to ask about a potential return.
