Federico Chiesa has been urged to leave Liverpool in search of regular first-team football, with reports emerging that the Italian winger has held private conversations with national team manager Gennaro Gattuso. The 27-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Juventus last summer, has struggled for game time at Anfield, making only six Premier League appearances without scoring or assisting.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Chiesa is keen to stay at Liverpool but does not want to endure another season of sporadic involvement. Gattuso has reportedly told the player that he needs to play regularly to retain his place in the Italy squad, prompting Chiesa to consider a move.
Liverpool have been more active in the transfer market this summer, with the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike increasing competition in attack. The club is reportedly willing to let Chiesa leave for a modest fee and would consider a loan deal with an option to buy.
Chiesa's preference, if he departs, would be to join a top Serie A club competing in European competition. Napoli are said to be the most interested, though they are currently focused on outgoings. AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Roma have also been mentioned as potential destinations.
