Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has expressed his disappointment at the departure of Enzo Maresca but insists the squad is ready to adapt under new head coach Liam Rosenior. The Argentine, who joined the Blues under Maresca's stewardship, admitted he learned a lot from the Italian but stressed that the team must move forward.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Garnacho said: 'It's always sad when a manager goes, but he's a really good guy and I learned a lot from him but I signed for Chelsea. We have to keep working, keep moving and be ready for what is coming.' He added that despite a difficult few weeks, the squad's main goal remains winning games.
Garnacho also delivered a clear message to Rosenior, who was appointed on a six-year contract after leaving Strasbourg. The winger said: 'A new manager is coming in but we are still the same team. We have to be ready for Wednesday and that's our job.' He noted that while players always aim to prove themselves to a new boss, the team's young core and strong environment will help them stay focused.
Rosenior, who guided Strasbourg to European qualification for the first time in nearly two decades, said he was 'extremely humbled and honoured' to take the role. He pledged to protect Chelsea's winning identity and create a team built on teamwork and unity, adding: 'There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete at the very highest level.'
