Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club after reaching a personal terms agreement with Turkish side Galatasaray. The Brazilian international, 31, has been at City for eight years but is now expected to depart this summer, with talks over a transfer fee set to begin.
City are already preparing for Ederson's potential exit by advancing negotiations to re-sign James Trafford from Burnley. The 22-year-old goalkeeper left City in 2023 for Burnley in a deal that included a £40 million buyback clause, which City are now trying to negotiate down.
Trafford has impressed in the Championship and attracted interest from Newcastle United, who had a £27 million bid rejected last month. However, City are now in pole position to bring back their former academy graduate, who has yet to make a senior appearance for the club.
If Trafford leaves Burnley, the Clarets could target City's current No. 2, Stefan Ortega, as a replacement. Burnley are preparing for their return to the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship last season.
Ederson's departure would be a significant loss for Pep Guardiola's side, who are looking to reclaim the Premier League title after losing it to Liverpool last season. City have already made five new signings this summer and are active in the transfer market.
