Spurs fans chanted for Frank to be 'sacked in the morning' after the result, which leaves the club 14th in the Premier League with just three wins in their last 15 matches.
Cristian Romero, who equalised for Spurs, did not hold back in his assessment, calling the defeat 'a disaster for us'. The atmosphere turned hostile as fans booed at half-time and full-time, and jeered Frank's decision to substitute winger Mathys Tel shortly before Romero's goal. The 'sacked in the morning' chant followed Wilson's winner.
Chief executive Vinai Venkatesham had written an open letter to fans on Saturday morning urging patience, but the nature of the loss has led the club to question whether they can persist with Frank. Despite this, Frank insisted he retains the faith of the hierarchy and described the club as a 'supertanker' being turned in the right direction during a transitional phase.
Frank acknowledged the criticism, saying, 'I'm the man in charge. So the blame will go to me. That's fair.' He lamented the lack of cutting edge from attacking players, noting that a centre-back scored their only goal. 'We didn't have the cutting edge, the perfect weighted pass, the sharp finish,' he said.
Nevertheless, Frank remains defiant, stating the team is working hard and he believes they are closer to something good. 'If the players stop running... then you can say OK. But the team is working very hard,' he added. Spurs have lost three consecutive matches across all competitions.
