Former Chelsea Youth Player Lamisha Musonda, 33, Says He Has Days to Live

Former Chelsea youth player Lamisha Musonda has revealed that he has only days left to live at the age of 33. The Belgian, who joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2012 alongside his brothers Tika and Charly, spent two years in the club's youth sides before returning to Belgium to play for Mechelen.

Musonda later played for Spanish lower-league sides Llagostera and Palamos, as well as Congolese club Mazembe. He also earned nine caps for Belgium's Under-21s before retiring in 2020. In an emotional social media update, he wrote: 'As I realise I only have a few days left, I also realise I had a lot of people by my side and I’ll always cherish the memories. Life is hard, but the view is great.'

He continued in French: 'Life is made of highs and lows, and no-one can truly understand the pain you go through. These last two years have been particularly difficult and challenging for me. It is with great sadness that I announce that I am struggling to get my health back.' He added that his health is critical and that he is fighting to survive.

Musonda thanked those who have supported him, saying he wants to be remembered not for adulation but for the positive impact he had on people he met. His younger brother Charly, 29, made seven senior appearances for Chelsea and played on loan for Celtic, while his other brother Tika has retired and become a scout.
