Sean Dyche has called for an expansion of VAR after Nottingham Forest conceded from a controversial corner for the second consecutive match. The assistant referee Akil Howson awarded a corner to Manchester United in the 33rd minute, despite replays showing it was unclear whether Forest full-back Nicolò Savona had kept the ball in play. Casemiro headed in Bruno Fernandes' delivery to give United a first-half lead.
Forest rallied with two goals in 102 second-half seconds through Morgan Gibbs-White and Savona, but Amad Diallo's stunning volley ensured the match ended 2-2. Dyche, booked for protesting a similar decision at Bournemouth last week, said: 'I just can't understand it. You're an assistant referee 70-odd yards away. Someone has got to be able to overrule these decisions with VAR – it would only take five seconds.'
Dyche added: 'Two weeks on the trot I'm talking about refereeing decisions. I want to be talking about my team.' Forest could have lost late on had Murillo not made a goalline clearance from Diallo, who struggled at right-wingback but redeemed himself with the equaliser. Ruben Amorim praised Diallo's 'big-team mentality', saying United would have lost this game last season.
