Ex-Chelsea player Lamisha Musonda, 33, has 'days left to live'

In a devastating social media announcement, former Chelsea youth player Lamisha Musonda has revealed he has only days left to live. The 33-year-old Belgian issued a heartfelt statement, describing a critical health battle and expressing his determination to fight until his last breath.

A Promising Career Cut Short

Lamisha Musonda joined Chelsea's academy from Anderlecht in 2012, following a path similar to his brothers, Tika and Charly Musonda. He spent two years within the Blues' youth setup before departing in 2014 to return to Belgium, where he played for KV Mechelen.

His professional journey later took him to lower-league Spanish sides UE Llagostera and Palamós CF, and a stint with African giants TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Musonda also earned nine caps for the Belgium Under-21 national team before retiring from football in 2020.

A Heartbreaking Health Update

The former footballer's emotional update, written in both English and French, has sent shockwaves through the football community. "As I realise I only have a few days left, I also realise I had a lot of people by my side and I’ll always cherish the memories," Musonda wrote.

He added, "Life is hard, but the view is great." In a further poignant message, he explained his absence from social media, stating: "These last two years have been particularly difficult and challenging for me. It is with great sadness that I announce that I am struggling to get my health back."

"I have to face facts – my health is critical, and I’m now fighting to survive," he continued, asking for prayers and support for himself and his family.

Gratitude and a Legacy of Kindness

Following an overwhelming wave of well-wishes, Musonda posted a second message of profound gratitude. He expressed a desire to be remembered not for footballing accolades, but for the positive impressions he left on people.

"I want to be remembered as someone who didn’t fall in love with the adulations," he stated. "But the good people I met along the way… the teammates, the teachers, the coaches, the bus drivers... It’s for them, I fight and stay strong. Let’s win each day at a time."

Musonda's younger brother, Charly Musonda, made seven senior appearances for Chelsea and had a loan spell at Celtic. His other brother, Tika, has since retired and moved into scouting.
