Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1-0 defeat at Marseille in Monday’s rearranged “Le Classique”, with Nayef Aguerd’s early header ending a 13-year wait for a home league win over their bitter rivals. The match was postponed from Sunday due to heavy rain and storms.
Marseille struck inside five minutes as centre-back Aguerd headed in at the far post after goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, signed from Lille in the summer, misjudged Mason Greenwood’s cross. PSG pressed for an equaliser but home keeper Gerónimo Rulli made several key saves, including a sharp stop from Achraf Hakimi. Gonçalo Ramos headed over a golden chance after the break.
The defeat was PSG’s first league loss of the season, overshadowing a night when Ousmane Dembélé was presented with the 2025 Ballon d’Or in Paris. Dembélé attended the ceremony despite being out with a thigh injury, while coach Luis Enrique accepted his coach of the year award via video link. PSG also won the men’s club of the year award.
The win lifted Marseille to sixth with nine points, while PSG dropped to second on goals scored behind Monaco. Napoli maintained their perfect start to Serie A with a 3-2 home win over promoted Pisa, with Billy Gilmour scoring his first senior club goal. Goals from Leonardo Spinazzola and Lorenzo Lucca put Napoli 3-1 ahead before a late Pisa consolation.
Napoli’s Antonio Conte praised the performance despite a nervy finish. “It was over at 3-1, Pisa weren’t even pressing us any more,” said Spinazzola. “But all you need is that one little moment and it all changes.” Napoli have 12 points from four games, two ahead of Juventus, while Pisa remain second-bottom with one point.
