England Injury Boost: Key Trio Train Ahead of Norway Clash
England Injury Boost: Key Trio Train for Norway

Marc Guehi, Declan Rice and Reece James all trained for England on Friday in a huge boost to manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway.

Training Return in Florida

The trio were all part of the training session with their team-mates in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as the Three Lions prepare for the clash at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. England will reach the semi-finals if they beat the Norwegians, with a potential last-four meeting against either Switzerland or defending champions Argentina.

Guehi had missed two days of training due to a hamstring injury and was considered a serious doubt for the Norway game. Arsenal midfielder Rice had been dealing with a slight sickness bug, while Chelsea right-back James had been training in recent days as he approaches a return from a hamstring injury that kept him out of matches against Panama, DR Congo and Mexico.

Key Players for Tuchel

All three were part of the session at the Inter Miami training ground on Friday, significantly boosting Tuchel’s ability to select his preferred starting XI for the quarter-final. Tuchel will be keen to field a full-strength midfield and defence to contain Norway’s Erling Haaland, who has scored seven goals in four games at the tournament and poses the biggest threat to England.

The only player who missed training on Friday was Jordan Henderson, who is out of the tournament due to a freak arm injury suffered while celebrating the 3-2 win over Mexico in the previous round. The injury required surgery, which was successful according to team officials.
