Manchester United Legend Denis Law to Miss Statue Unveiling Due to Health Concerns
Denis Law misses Man Utd statue unveiling due to health

Manchester United fans will be disappointed to learn that club legend Denis Law will not attend the unveiling of his statue at Old Trafford due to health reasons. The 83-year-old football icon, known as 'The King' by supporters, has been struggling with health issues, preventing him from joining fellow legends Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best in person for the ceremony.

The bronze statue, which depicts Law in his famous goal celebration pose, will be revealed outside the stadium on Thursday. A club spokesperson stated: "While Denis is unable to join us physically, his spirit will undoubtedly be present at this special moment."

A Fitting Tribute to a Football Great

The statue completes a trilogy of monuments honoring United's legendary 'Holy Trinity' - Law, Charlton and Best - who led the club to European glory in 1968. Charlton's statue was unveiled in 2016, while Best's was revealed in 2021.

Law's family will represent him at the event, where fans are expected to gather in large numbers to pay tribute to the Scottish striker who scored 237 goals in 404 appearances for the Red Devils between 1962 and 1973.

Health Battles of a Sporting Hero

The former Ballon d'Or winner has been open about his health struggles in recent years, including his diagnosis with dementia. His absence highlights the ongoing challenges faced by many former footballers dealing with neurodegenerative conditions.

United have arranged for Law to participate virtually in the ceremony, ensuring the beloved footballer can still be part of this significant moment in the club's history.
