Cunha faces UEFA report after Man Utd Roma win

Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha could face further UEFA action after returning to the pitch to celebrate with teammates following the Red Devils' dramatic Champions League comeback against Roma. Cunha scored twice in the match before being sent off in the final 10 minutes.

Return to the Field

At the end of the match, Cunha quickly re-entered the playing area to join his teammates in celebration. This action is not permitted under the rules. According to IFAB Law 12, players must remain in the dressing room or a spectator area until a match is concluded, which is not denoted by the full-time whistle.

The officials must have formally left the field before players may return; otherwise, it constitutes unauthorised pitch entry and misconduct. As a result, the match official could report Cunha, potentially leading to further action such as an extension of a ban or a fine, depending on the player's behaviour.

Manager's Intervention

As Cunha celebrated, United boss Michael Carrick encouraged him to leave the pitch, which provoked an angry response from the Brazilian. Cunha had to be guided away from the field following the exchange.
