Cunha faces extra ban after Man United red card

Matheus Cunha could face additional punishment after appearing to breach a UEFA rule following Manchester United's 3-2 Champions League victory over Roma at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Match Recap

Bruno Fernandes scored United's first goal from the penalty spot in the second half, after the Reds had trailed 2-0 at the interval on home soil. Cunha then scored twice in the closing stages of the second half, receiving a yellow card for his celebration after the winning goal.

The Brazilian was shown another booking a few minutes later and was sent off, but could be seen watching the final minutes of the game while sitting on an advertising board.

Post-Match Incident

After the final whistle, Cunha attempted to return to the pitch to celebrate with his teammates before being greeted by manager Michael Carrick. The United boss and Cunha had a brief interaction, which led to the former Wolves playmaker appearing upset before making his way back towards the tunnel.

It is believed that Carrick had instructed Cunha to go back to the dressing room to avoid receiving another punishment following his red card.
