Maresca Says £8,000 Fine for Chelsea Celebration 'Worth It'

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has described his £8,000 fine for celebrating his side's stoppage-time winner against Liverpool as 'worth it'. The Italian was sent off after sprinting down the touchline to join players following Estevao Willian's 95th-minute goal at Stamford Bridge on October 4.

Maresca admitted a Football Association misconduct charge and will serve a one-match touchline ban. He will watch Saturday's Premier League match at Nottingham Forest from the directors' box, with assistant head coach Willy Caballero taking charge from the technical area.

Reflecting on the incident, Maresca said: 'It was a nice moment. It's part of our job, the passion, the reaction. It's also nice for everyone, for the fans, for the stadium. It was just a reaction.'

Asked if the fine was steep, he replied: 'It's a lot, but it's the rule. I think it was a reaction, a nice reaction. I was very happy in that moment. I need to accept the consequences. I'm quite happy to accept the consequences after that goal.'

When pressed on whether it was worth it, Maresca simply answered: 'Yes.'
