Celtic Fans Furious Over Lack of Transfers as Kyogo Rumours Swirl

Celtic fans' patience has snapped 36 days into the transfer window, with only striker Camilo Duran signed so far in what was billed as a major summer rebuild. Thousands boycotted Saturday's friendly against Middlesbrough, and punters are beginning to vote with their feet.

Rangers Fans Twist the Knife

Rangers supporter Gary Stevenson from Newtonhill couldn't resist mocking the sparse attendance. "I take it that Celtic vs Middlesbrough on Saturday went to extra-time as I passed Parkhead around finishing time and all I saw was a few hundred people wearing red and white scarves. So much for the best supporters in the land cliche," he said.

Not everyone saw the funny side. Denis Bruce from Bishopbriggs wrote: "Unless there is something going on in the background and the Celtic board has something big up its sleeve, then the virtually empty stadium forces us to ask whether the board can read the room. If it is dyslexic on that matter, the forthcoming season is doomed, much to the delight of its fiercest rivals. As for MON, who might be playing his cards close to his chest, there are concerns that he could have sold his soul to ease his conscience on the basis of Faust come, Faust served."

Kyogo Return Dismissed

After losing out on Kelechi Iheanacho, Bodo/Glimt hitman Kasper Hogh and ex-hero Kyogo have been linked. Stephen Mulhern from Dumbarton said: "Celtic's key to coming through unscathed in the Champions League qualifier is having a proven striker that's proven at that level, then Kasper Hogh ticks all the boxes. And if reports are true of a potential signing, it would most definitely give the board some breathing space. However, as much as Kyogo was a Celtic icon, I hope rumours of him returning are just that. Going back never works – and I'd use Charlie Nicholas as an example."

Paul Stewart from Livingston also rejected the idea: "If Celtic think re-signing Kyogo would appease the fans they've got another thing coming. A 31-year-old striker with a dodgy shoulder who couldn't get a game for Birmingham is not the answer. Show some ambition for once, use the £40million in season ticket cash and push the boat out for a marquee signing who will get the fans back onside."

World Cup Final Disappoints

Alan Lough from Dunbar wasn't happy with Sunday night's World Cup Final. "Congratulations to Spain on winning the World Cup. But in what was, without a doubt, the most boring game of football I've ever seen in my life. Not one single player can hold their head up and say they did themselves proud." Sean Beech from Hampshire quipped: "With no shots on goal throughout the entire match, who do Argentina think they are... the new Scotland? What a dreary match and such a shame when you look at the players on the pitch and the talent they have."
