Celtic have sacked manager Wilfried Nancy after just 33 days in charge, following a dismal run of six defeats in eight matches. The club announced the departure on Monday, along with the exit of his backroom staff and head of football operations Paul Tisdale.
Nancy, who joined from Columbus Crew on December 3, 2025, managed only wins over Aberdeen and Livingston before a comprehensive defeat in Saturday's Old Firm derby sealed his fate. The club statement read: “The Club thanks Wilfried for his efforts and wishes him and his family well for the future.”
Martin O'Neill, who previously served as interim boss after Brendan Rodgers' departure in October, will return to manage the team until the end of the season. O'Neill said: “I am really pleased, in fact, very honoured to be asked back to manage the team again.”
Celtic currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership, six points behind leaders Hearts after 20 matches. Nancy's dismissal follows a turbulent season that saw Rodgers leave in October after failing to secure Champions League qualification.
