Michael Carrick has emerged as the front-runner to become Manchester United's next permanent manager after guiding the club back to the Champions League. The 44-year-old took over in January following Ruben Amorim's departure and has exceeded expectations, securing a top-four finish with three games to spare.
Carrick's Demand for Backing
Carrick, who has been publicly backed by several players, is set for key talks with club executives next week. He will demand assurances that the club will fully support his transfer targets. His expected appointment is also likely to secure Bruno Fernandes's long-term future, as the Portuguese playmaker is now ready to commit to the club after considering a move last summer.
Casemiro's Guidance for Mainoo
Outgoing midfielder Casemiro has been mentoring young talent Kobbie Mainoo, calling him the "present and the future of the club." Both players have thrived under Carrick, with Mainoo returning to the fold after being frozen out by Amorim. Casemiro, who has been a key figure on and off the pitch, discussed the challenges of coaching younger players in the social media age, emphasizing the need for hard work and discipline.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand's podcast, Casemiro said: "I try every day about this with Kobbie. He's an unbelievable player. But he needs to train, train, train. He needs fear - I play, I don't play. I need to push the training because this guy is the present and the future of the club."
With the season winding down, United host Nottingham Forest on Sunday before visiting Brighton. The summer promises significant changes as Carrick looks to stamp his authority on the squad.
