Michael Carrick is set to address the media ahead of Manchester United's Premier League trip to Chelsea on Saturday, with questions expected over his future and his recent talks with captain Bruno Fernandes.
The head coach has been under pressure following Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. It was anticipated he would be sacked after that result, but following crisis talks among the United hierarchy, the decision was made to give Carrick another chance.
Clear-the-air talks with Fernandes
On Tuesday, Carrick sat down with Fernandes for clear-the-air discussions. Fernandes had criticised the head coach's tactics after the defeat to Como and was subsequently dropped for the clash with Bournemouth, where he was an unused substitute.
Carrick is now understood to consider the matter closed, though it is likely to be raised during the press conference alongside questions about his position at the club.
Team news ahead of Chelsea
Away from Carrick's future, United's team news will be revealed before the trip to the capital. Benjamin Sesko is out until at least January with a shin injury, while Kobbie Mainoo returned to training this week.
Carrick is due to sit down with the media at 2pm UK time, with the press conference expected to provide further detail on the squad and the manager's immediate plans.
