Michael Carrick has made clear his ambition to remain as Manchester United manager beyond the current season, having overseen an unbeaten run since stepping in as interim head coach in January. The former midfielder has guided United to four wins in five matches, including victories over Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Carrick said: 'It's not a stock answer - for me, it's the ultimate role. I'm really enjoying it, I love what I'm doing... I always plan for the long-term future for the benefit of the football club. That's how I believe it should be.' He added that he feels privileged to be in the position and is focused on making the team successful.
Carrick also emphasised the positive atmosphere at the club: 'The staff are fantastic, the players have been unbelievable. It's a really good place to come in every single day - to drive in and look forward to being here.'
United's next Premier League fixture is away to Everton on Monday, 23 February. The club is expected to wait until the end of the season to appoint a permanent head coach, with Oliver Glasner among the candidates.
