Carragher: Gravenberch red card vs Man City 'really harsh'

Jamie Carragher believes Ryan Gravenberch’s red card against Manchester City was “really harsh”. The Liverpool midfielder was sent off just after the hour mark when he picked up a second yellow card for bringing down Jeremy Doku at Anfield.

Carragher's verdict on the two tackles

Gravenberch was first booked for a challenge on Elliot Anderson, a tackle that Carragher believes did warrant a yellow card. He said: “Feels really harsh when you think of two tackles. The first was not a yellow, it was so harsh, it was a nothing challenge, the referee was far too quick to get the card.”

Before Carragher added: “The first was the same, the referee was so quick to get a yellow out.”

Neville's reaction

While Gary Neville said: “That is very, very soft. Knowing you're on a yellow and on the wrong side of Doku, does he need to make the challenge? Giving the referee a dilemma.”
