Jamie Carragher has said the “worry” for the rest of the Premier League is that Arsenal do not look like conceding, even without William Saliba.
After starting the season with back-to-back wins over Coventry and Aston Villa, Arsenal’s defence was breached for the first time in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea.
Morgan Rogers – a summer transfer target for the Gunners – left many inside the Emirates Stadium stunned with a goal inside the opening two minutes. However, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard scored either side of the break to complete the comeback, sealing victory for the Premier League champions.
Carragher impressed by Arsenal's defensive strength
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Carragher was impressed with how Arsenal limited Chelsea to very little in terms of chances and believes their defensive strength even in the absence of Saliba is an ominous sign.
He said: "I think the worrying thing for everybody else already is that Saliba, - who is genuinely world-class arguably probably the best centre-back in world football – has not played a minute of football so far this season.
"And it doesn’t look like anyone can score against them.
Limited chances for Chelsea
"They get a goal today Chelsea but didn’t really one big chance in the game, a lot of efforts from outside the box.
"Raya made a great save from Estevao at the end but that would have been a great goal but didn’t really open them up and that’s without their best defender.
"So that is a worry but a great start for him (Ezri Konsa) and that tackle there, supporters love that type of thing."
