Carabao Cup quarter-final draw: Chelsea host Newcastle, Liverpool face West Ham

The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw has been confirmed after Wednesday night's round of 16 matches, which saw Manchester United and Arsenal eliminated.

Newcastle, who beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, will travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. Liverpool overcame Bournemouth 2-1 in stormy conditions and will host West Ham, who defeated Arsenal 3-1.

The two remaining non-Premier League sides, Port Vale and Middlesbrough, will play each other, guaranteeing at least one EFL team in the semi-finals. Everton host Fulham in an all-Premier League tie at Goodison Park.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: 'Games like this are super tough for both teams and it's important that you win. It's not always about learning, sometimes you just have to get through and we did.'

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe praised his team's mentality after their win, while Arsenal's Mikel Arteta urged his players to use the 'pain' of defeat to fuel their Premier League challenge. The quarter-finals will be played in the week beginning December 18.
