Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes reported to Carrington on Monday morning, with United sources saying he came in for treatment. A handful of other injured players also reported to the training ground, while the rest of the squad were given the usual off day after a game.
Carrick's future under review
Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox also arrived at Carrington for talks over Michael Carrick's future. United's board have been weighing up whether to sack Carrick after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, which means United have now gone eight games without a win across all competitions.
Carrick dropped Fernandes for the Bournemouth clash on Sunday, but he said it was for "pure football" reasons. Fernandes has played through pain this season, although Carrick has played down the issue.
Fernandes-Carrick rift
Carrick's disagreement with Fernandes has been an unexpected twist over the last week. The pair have been close, having worked together when Carrick was part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's staff, but the midfielder questioned Carrick's tactics after the defeat against Como in the Champions League.
Fernandes arrived for the Bournemouth game with his hood up and was subsequently an unused substitute, but he was sent to warm up by Carrick in the 58th minute - before he used all his changes, leaving the Portugal international as an unused sub.
Social media hint
The United captain appeared to make a subtle dig at the club on social media over the last 24 hours, with Fernandes' official Instagram account liking a post reading: "Never push a loyal person to the point where they no longer care."
