Manchester United academy graduate Brandon Williams has joined Championship side Ipswich Town on a season-long loan deal. The left-back, 22, has played just five competitive minutes under Erik ten Hag and made only two appearances in United's pre-season friendlies this summer.
Williams has made a total of 51 senior appearances for his boyhood club, with all but one coming under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. After a loan spell at Norwich City in 2021/22, his first season under Ten Hag was hampered by injury. His sole outing for the Dutchman came as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup win over Burnley in December.
At Ipswich, Williams is reunited with former United first-team coach Kieran McKenna. Speaking about the move, Williams said: “It feels good to be down here and I can't wait to get started. I'm coming here to hopefully get into the team and play a lot of games.”
Ipswich, promoted from League One last season, have started their Championship campaign strongly with three consecutive wins. Williams could make his debut when they host Leeds United at Portman Road on Saturday.
